Tomato Thokku Chutney

Tomato Thokku Chutney,it also goes very well with egg dosa as a chutney.Perfect combination of egg dosa and tomato thokku chutney.


  • 4 Tomatoes chopped
  • 4 tsp Sesame oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 sticks Curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp Fennel seeds powder
  • ½ tsp Asafoetida powder
  • salt to taste


  1. In a mixer, tomatoes chopped and grind fine (tomato puree).
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds allow them to crackle then add curry leaves.
  3. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, fennel seeds powder, asafoetida powder mix well.
  4. Immediately add tomato puree mix well and cover with the lid till thick consistency oil comes out separately.
  5. Add salt mix well.

Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds.



Add curry leaves.



Add turmeric powder,chilli powder,fennel seeds powder and asafoetida.



Add tomato puree.



Cover with the lid and cook for 10-15 mins.



Add salt and mix well.Tomato Thokku Chutney is ready now.
