Tomato Chutney

Tomato Chutney is very simple compared to many other chutneys.Tomato chutney that goes well with idli or dosa.


  • 4 Tomatoes
  • 1 Big onion
  • 5 sticks Curry leaves
  • 4 Red chillies
  • 4 tsp Sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp urad dal
  • Curry leaves


  1. Heat 1tsp oil in a pan. Add big onion chopped sauté for 5 mins. Add curry leaves, red chillies sauté for a min.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes sauté for a mushy consistency. Cool down.
  3. Grind a fine paste.
  4. Heat 3 tsp oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds allow them to crackle and then add urad dal its turn golden brown, then add curry leaves.
  5. Transfer them into the chutney and mix well.

Heat oil in a pan.



Add chopped onion and saute for transcluent color.



Add chopped tomato and saute for mushy consistency.



Add red chilli.



Add curry leaves mix well and saute for 3-5 mins.cool down.



In a mixer add sauted tomato mix and salt grind a fine paste.



Heat oil in a pan. add mustard seeds,urad dal,curry leaves.



Add grind paste mix well and cook for 3 mins.Tomato Chutney is ready now.
