Pottukadalai Chutney (Fried Gram Dal Chutney), is a tasty chutney it goes well with idli and dosa. Step by step method on the end of this post.
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup Pottukadalai
- 2 Garlic
- ½ inch Ginger
- 1 Red chillies
- 2 Onion chopped
- 1 tiny piece Tamarind
- ¼ cup Shredded coconut
- 1 ½ Tomato chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil needed
To temper:
- Oil needed
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/8 tsp Urad dal
- 1 spring Curry leaves
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, ginger and red chillies and sauté for a min.
- Add onion and sauté for translucent color. Add pottukadalai to fry for a min.
- Add tamarind and sauté for a min and then add shredded coconut and salt mix well and sauté for a min.
- Add tomato and sauté for a mushy consistency. Cool down and in blender grind a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds allow them to crackle and then add urad dal its turn golden brown, then add curry leaves.
- Transfer them into the chutney and mix well.
- Pottukadalai Chutney (Fried Gram Dal Chutney) is ready now.
