Garlic Chutney

Garlic Chutney, Serve this delicious garlic chutney with idli, dosa. Garlic chutney step by step method on the end of this post.


  • 16-20 Garlic
  • 20 Small onion/shallots
  • 1 ½ -2 Tomato
  • 3 tbsp urad dal
  • Tamarind a peas sized
  • 1 stick Curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed
  • 5-6 Red chillies


  1. Peel the onion and garlic.
  2. Heat a pan. Add the gram dal, tamarind, asafetida, red chillies and fry then till the raw smell goes out.
  3. Keep it aside.
  4. Heat a tsp oil in a pan. Add small onion, garlic and fry till they turn the color. Add tomato sauté for mushy consistency.
  5. Now mix them all together and add salt and grind a fine paste.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. wait till they crackle.
  7. Add chutney stir them well.

Take small onion, garlic, tomato, gram dal, tarmarind, red chillies, asafoetida.



Heat a pan, add gram dal and tarmarind dry roast.



Add red chilli and asafoetida mix well.keep aside.



Heat oil in a pan. Add small onion and garlic and saute change the color.



Add tomato and saute for mushy consistency. Keep aside.



Cool down and grind a fine paste.



Heat oil in a pan. add mustard seeds, curry leaves crackle.Add grind chutney mix well.
